Just 20 miles away — a scenic 30- to 35-minute drive — lies Gettysburg National Military Park. Walk the historic battlefield, join a guided tour, or explore the many museums and monuments that tell the powerful story of the Civil War.

About 35 miles southwest (roughly 45–50 minutes), Antietam National Battlefield near Hagerstown, Maryland, offers another profound experience. Known as the bloodiest single-day battle in American history, it features a beautiful 8.5-mile driving tour, preserved landscapes, and moving historic sites.

Both battlefields make meaningful day trips from our peaceful home base.

Hike scenic trails at nearby Caledonia State Park, including direct access to the legendary Appalachian Trail. Cast a line for trout in the clear waters of the creek — a local expert is available for fly fishing lessons right onsite. Five minutes away are Green Township Park or Norlo Park, great for playgrounds, pickleball or tennis, and paved walking trails.
